We’ve arrived!

Checking in at the airport

On Monday around noon local time, we arrived after a 19 hour flight (with a layover in-between). Immediately we were drenched in the heat and humidity of the tropics as we left the airport.

We are now in the midst of a 4-week orientation course. We are learning about our organization’s mission, vision, and values of OMF, the necessary adjustments and spiritual mindset for effective ministry in Asian cultures, and practical matters concerning personal health, computer security, and working in multicultural teams.

Tuesday was a rest and recharge day and by Wednesday afternoon, we were getting the tour of the office. Thursday morning began our orientation sessions. This week we were granted an afternoon break to allow for jet lag and next week our sessions will run from 8:30 am and end with dinner at 6 pm. Morning tea breaks are scheduled at 10:30 daily and we have lunch at 12:30 pm.

Our cohort includes sixteen new members from nine countries. In fact, every continent (except Antarctica) is represented! Through personal testimonies and group activities, we are discovering how God has led each of us on our missions journey.

We are thankful that we’ve already heard that provision has been made for a place for us to stay after our four weeks of training.

Thank you for joining us on this journey!
