Giving thanks

On the eve of an American holiday when our family cooked food, created family memories, and hosted students from around the world…

On the morning of my 60th birthday, I pause to give thanks for the people in my life. I hope you recognize yourself!

  • 3 daughters who bring smiles to my heart and motivate me to embrace the adventure of following Jesus through life’s twists and turns
  • 3 sons-in-love who show me afresh how God leads for a new generation
  • 2 granddaughters who delight in new discoveries (and help me rediscover delight!)
  • 3 women who share my birth year and model courage in facing a momentous milestone birthday
  • 4 women who take time to pause and celebrate friendship in our shared birth months
  • 1 running-buddy, travel-buddy, book-loving, faithful, loving, and supportive husband of 35 years
  • multiple pray-ers and partners who join us in sharing the hope of Christ with the peoples of East Asia
  • one global community that displays the beautiful diversity of God’s kingdom
  • the richness of an intergen community where wise guides lead the way, side guides walk with me along the way, and surprise guides show me a new way to experience the deep deep love of Jesus.

All these, and more, together help me be ready to speak of the unsurpassing love of Jesus Christ, His unmerited forgiveness and grace, and the abundant life granted to all who trust in Him.

May the Lord bless you as you journey in trust that His grace is sufficient, His forgiveness complete, and His love all encompassing.

May the Lord guide you as you seek His purposes in your life.

May His name be praised!
