Dear family and friends,
Low in the grave He lay,
Jesus, my Savior,
Waiting the coming day,
Jesus, my Lord!
So begins the first verse of Christ Arose by Robert Lowry. The month of March, the season of Lent, have all reminded us of a coming day. The song continues…
Vainly they watch His bed,
Jesus, my Savior;
Vainly they seal the dead,
Jesus, my Lord!
Will Jesus be contained by the grave? Will the sting of death forever bite?
Death cannot keep his Prey,
Jesus, my Savior;
He tore the bars away,
Jesus, my Lord!
But no! Jesus cannot be contained by the power of darkness. His Father has accepted his atoning blood. The wages of our sin, the debt we can never repay, has been paid in full. Look at the evidence!
Up from the grave He arose,
With a mighty triumph o’er His foes,
He arose a Victor from the dark domain,
And He lives forever, with His saints to reign.
He arose! He arose!
Hallelujah! Christ arose!
We celebrate a risen Lord! We are thankful for salvation and a reason to live no longer for ourselves but for Him who died for us and rose again. We rejoice in our salvation…and are thankful for a strong recovery from surgery for Eunice and for a pathology report that shows no cancer. May your hearts rejoice, too, at this precious gift of salvation.
